El Enemigo Cabernet Franc 2021

El Enemigo is an elegant, sober and deep wine, with aromas of chocolate and malted cereals, that seduces even before the lips touch the crystal of the glass. It is a wine with a capital W, a true exercise in meticulousness. In this wine from the Mendoza region the green tones, so common in other blends that have Cabernet Franc as the protagonist, are non-existent. Inside you only notice the virtues of the variety, its opulence, its elegance and its aromatic complexity. The touch is pure velvet and the balance is practically perfect. The tannins are masterfully integrated, almost fused, and the acidity, for its part, is millimetric: it brings tension and style to the wine, without being in any way aggressive. On the palate it is a classic wine, while on the nose it is a modern wine: it combines the elegance of the old world with the breadth of the new. Fruit in syrup, the right toasted aromas, a certain hint of dried fruit and perhaps some violet petals hovering lightly over a blackberry and cherry jam.

An unusual freshness due to the altitude of over 1,400 meters where its vineyard is located, the fineness of the limestone of the soils and the hardness of the stones that cover them. A long and well-reasoned stay in wood, with most of the barrels already used, so that the ripe fruit does not lose its role as a prima donna. Eucalyptus and pepper refresh a ripe center and allow El Enemigo Cabernet Franc to touch aromatic perfection, recalling those old Bordeaux that Adrianna Catena drank with her father when she was young or the Cabernet Franc of Angélica Zapata, which Alejandro Vigil himself served at her wedding. It would seem that the two leaders of the El Enemigo project are destined to produce a wine like this, with the spices, grainy tannins and freshness of the best Cabernet Franc.
