The Brunello di Montalcino 2018 of Castiglion del Bosco comes from the uniqueness of the Capanna vineyard , located north-west of Montalcino. The peculiar characteristics of this vineyard, such as the natural isolation, the altitude and the soil, mainly characterized by the presence of clayey schists, transfer refined elegance and great personality to this precious wine.
The 2018 vintage was a challenge for both the man and the vine. The cool and rainy spring made the vegetation of the plants very intense. The cultivation of greenery required a lot of attention and work to allow the plant to reach vegetative balance. These climatic conditions continued in the first part of the summer, characterized by cool days and abundant rain.
The end of summer was hot and dry and this allowed for good ripening, even if slightly earlier than usual. In the first half of September the harvest began in the Gauggiole area, on the north side of the estate. The grapes showed excellent acidity and a rather low sugar content, perfect for the fresher and more vibrant wines. The excellent varietal expressions and the very ripe tannins will give life to a very recognizable Brunello, with a clear and unique style.
“Brunello di Montalcino 2018 expresses all the peculiarities of the challenge of the vintage. In the glass the wine has an intense ruby red colour. The nose is very intense and deep, characterized by the typical scents of the denomination: small ripe red fruits, notes of licorice, with a spicy finish. The sip is complex and rich, with an elegant and refreshing, thanks to an excellent acidity”.
